    Whether you desire a therapy dog, competition dog, or if you just want a well-mannered family pet, your dog needs to be trained for that position. I do private training and group classes. I train your dog for your needs. I can train for the rally ring but my main concern is for the family pet to fit into your pack structure as smoothly as possible and live happily for the remainder of his life. Too many dogs are surrendered to shelters because of bad behavior-behavior which owners often do not realize is very normal FOR A DOG!  Owners often bring on bad behaviors in their dogs because of a lack of knowledge. They assume a dog will automatically fit into their lifestyle without any training or shaping. Love alone will not train your dog.  What owners often forget is that they are taking a DOG and expecting it to fit into a HUMANS lifestyle without any training. You have to mold your dog into your family. Molding comes from training.

 It is OUR responsibility as dog owners, to teach the dog what we expect as far as appropriate behavior is concerned. That is why I teach the owners how to train their dogs. This way a communication is developed between owners and their dogs. This communication will service the two for the remainder of their lives. My hope is that each client will develope the close relationship with their dog that I have with my dogs,  thereby enriching their lives and the lives of others. Robins Therapy Dogs evolved in this same manner. I now share the bond I have with my dogs, in dog assisted therapy, with others less fortunate.   

    For a private lesson, I cater my work plan around your specific needs and issues.  Often these are things such as excessive barking, boundaries, jumping, pulling on lead, house training issues, crate training, and over excitability that can lead to aggressive dominance.

    I also teach group classes for basic and advanced obedience, rally for the competition ring, train and test for the AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, and therapy dog training/testing. I am a Tester/Observer with Therapy Dogs, Inc., an AKC CGC and S.T.A.R. Puppy evaluator, a member of Missouri Rhineland Kennel club, and proprietor of PREPPIE PAWS LLC... Doggie Prep School

                               These classes are currently running and will end the week of May28-31, 2012:

Group Class Schedule: Basic obedience  6 pm - 7 pm                                        Fee: $60
    (7 week course)                                            
                                     Learn how to use marker training with positive reinforcements in order to teach your dog how to sit/down/heel/stay/and come when called. This is the foundation class for which all others will follow. Like anything that is built, you must start with a strong foundation. As you continue to build and grow, this strong foundation will support all future work.


Upon completion of this class, I will offer the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and/or the Therapy Dogs, Inc. test to those who wish to take it. (Please note that classes are not required to take the Therapy Dogs, Inc. test. This is a national therapy dog organization for which I am a tester/observer and merely the time I am offering it).

                                      Intermediate obedience 7:15 pm -8:15pm                      Fee: $60
     (6 week course)         
                                      Take your training one step further. Refine those basic commands and begin to understand your dogs psychological makeup. Learn WHY he does the things he does and teach him using his natural instincts.  Teach your dog to back up, to target with his nose and paw, give commands using only hand signals, out of sight seperation, and more. One session will be devoted to the concern of how your dog reacts to the UPS/FEDEX driver, why he reacts the way he does, and what you can do to prevent this behavior.  My friend recently lost her dog when the Fed Ex driver arrived and the dog got away. I feel it is important to address this issue as it involves everyday life for most of us.

This class may have a strong disposition leaning toward rally competition and/or therapy dog work. You and your dog will be exposed to medical equipment, noises, and smells. Your dog must have passed a basic obedience class in order to take the intermediate class.

Coming Soon:           AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy classes and Teach Your Dog to Dance! Even if you never put it to music, this class is alot of fun with your dog and teaches new 'tricks' using hand signals and body language-a great way to increase that bond with your dog.

Note: With regard to all classes-all fees are non-refundable. Only one dog per handler per class. I do encourage husband/wife teams to take the class together so that each person will have consistent handling of the dog.

 In the event a class is cancelled due to inclement weather or any such emergencies, the missed class will be made up at a later date which is convenient to the instructor and facility.
